London Skolars Head Coach Joe Mbu has been appointed as President of Rugby League in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mbu will lead a seven person board, elected by the eight member clubs in the country, to fulfil the criteria for full membership of International Rugby League.
Currently Rugby League is played in three areas, the Capital Kinshasa, Goma and Uvira in the South Kivu region.
Mbu said “I am delighted for the opportunity to be part of the family developing Rugby League around the world. I am excited and looking forward to the pool of talent that will emerge from the central region of Africa. The DRC has the potential to become a great rugby league nation!”
