London Skolar #235 Neil Thorman has announced his retirement from Rugby League.
The decision to hang up his boots will see the hooker/half-back bring the curtain down on a twenty year professional career, in which he has played in Australia, France and the U.K.
Thorman, (Pictured at the launch of he 2012 Season), has cemented himself as a London Skolars legend making 119 Appearances of which 114 were as a starter, scoring 518 points (16 tries, 226 goals and 2 field goals).
Thorman started 2022 at Championship side London Broncos, making a handful of appearances before returning to Skolars on Dual Registration. His career also saw him represent Gateshead Thunder, Whitehaven, York & Avignon XIII.
He said “Rugby League has been very good to me, I have got to play in three different countries, met some great people and made some amazing memories. After twenty years, now is the time to focus on life away from the field. I can’t thank my family, coaches, teammates and various club fans enough for their support over the years. I now look forward to the next chapter of my life and I am excited to see where that takes me”.
Skolars Chairman Adrian Fraine commented, “We thank Neil for a fantastic contribution to London Skolars over the years, he has been one of the most consistent performers in the clubs’ history. He deserves all the plaudits he gets and we wish him all the best in retirement from the greatest game”.
Head Coach Joe Mbu said “Neil has been a terrific servant, not only of London Skolars but to the game of Rugby league, not many players play for twenty years and his experience has contributed massively
to our young squad over the last ten games. I and everyone at the club wishes Neil the best for the future, I am certain if & when he decides to; he will make a fantastic rugby league coach.”
