Skolars put in a much improved performance in the first half, trailing by just two points at the
break, but a burst of five tries in fourteen minutes saw Doncaster pull away in the second half.
It was a Skolars’ error close to their own line that gave the visitors their first chance to score,
Sam Smeaton taking advantage. Connor Robinson’s offload saw Aaron Ollett-Hobson break the
defence.
Skolars got their first try when Jacob Thomas made a break before Jonathan Bell pushed his way
through the defence from dummy half. Jason Tali scored soon afterwards, but Skolars cut back
the margin to two points again when Aaron Small raced to a cross-field kick with Phil Lyon
adding the conversion
They could have levelled the scores from a penalty, but decided to run it and did not score.
Doncaster then counterattacked with Smeaton completing his hat-trick, Travis Corion and Tom
Halliday taking cross-field kicks and Ben Howe scoring after Louis McConnell’s break.
The home side staunched the flow in the final seventeen minutes, but couldn’t add to their tally
and results elsewhere saw then drop to the bottom of the table on points difference.
