Former Coventry Bear, Doug Chirnside has signed a one year contract with the club. The Hooker, who is from Sutton in London, is pleased to have joined the club and upon signing said the following “I am really pleased to have signed for the Skolars a & I am looking forward to getting stuck in this pre-season, get minutes under my belt and show what I can do in League 1”.
Head Coach, Joe Mbu recognized Doug’s quality almost instantaneously and was eager to add him to the 2022 squad. Doug has played professionally for Coventry and Oxford Rugby League. He has also excelled for the London Chargers and Croydon Hurricanes. He represented Scotland Students at the 2017 World Cup and featured for them again in 2018 & 2019.
General Manager, Charlie de Haan also commented “Doug is a great addition to the squad and fits the profile of the type of player that the club are aiming to recruit. He is London based and has the ability to be a key part of our team. I think he is one to watch in 2022”

Supporters will hopefully be able to see Doug in action during our pre-season fixtures and the second Round of the Challenge Cup, which is due to take place on Saturday 29th January at New River. Tickets for the Challenge Cup game will be on sale from January 16th 2022.
