After eleven long months, the London Skolars first-team returned to training on Thursday evening. With a whole host of Covid-19 protocols in place (including Lateral Flow testing), twenty first-team players joined the first session ahead of the eagerly anticipated 2021 Betfred League 1 season.
With a little over eleven weeks until the club’s first league fixture, the whole squad is looking forward to an extended pre-season to refine skills and boost fitness levels. On a bitterly cold evening, the spirit in the camp was high. It was wonderful to see some new faces amongst other experienced ‘Skolars’. Tom Firth, Alfie Edwards, Marcus Hockey, Errol Carter, Adam Vrahnos & Christian Gale joined a training session for the first time. All will be looking to impress Head Coach Jermaine Coleman and force their way into the first matchday squad of 2021.
General Manager Charlie de Haan commented – “It is brilliant to see the players back training. It has been a long time coming. This pre-season will be different to those gone by. Everyone is getting used to the new rules and understand that it is crucial to keep all players and members of staff safe. Most importantly, we are back and will be looking to gradually build as the weeks go by”
The first-team’ next training session will take place on Tuesday 16th February. Everyone at the club is looking forward to the release of the Betfred league 1 fixtures this Sunday afternoon.
