London Skolars are delighted to confirm that Iliess Macani has committed his future to the Club by signing a contract extension.
The 25 year-old whose current deal was due to expire in November 2019 will remain a Skolar until the end of the 2020 season!
Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars’ Head Coach, commented: “I am really glad Iliess has signed again. He had a massive impact on the team last year both on and off the field. He was a standout performer across the season and came away with the 2019 Coach’s player of the season. He brings real energy and professionalism to the group and I am hoping he can add to that next year”.
A product of Skolars’ renowned Junior system, Macani began his professional career with London Broncos, where he spent three years in the first team. He made 68 appearances and scored 26 tries during his time with the Broncos and enjoyed his first loan stint at Skolars in 2014. Iliess signed for former World Club Champions Bradford Bulls in 2017 and in his only season with the Yorkshire club scored 10 tries in 25 games. At the end of the campaign he moved to Sheffield Eagles, before joining the Skolars on loan for the second time in his career during the 2018 season.
Iliess had a strong 2019 campaign, scoring 10 tries in 21 games. Speaking about his re-signing, Macani said: I am pleased to have re-signed at my hometown club after an insightful 2019 season. We have learned a lot about ourselves through the ups and downs and I feel that we as a team have now grasped what is required to compete at the top of this league. Our focus for the 2020 season is to correctly balance and hone in on everyone’s strengths, in order to reap the best rewards. I look forward to an exciting season.”
Massive thank you to Adam Perry who will be proudly sponsoring Iliess in 2020.
