Toronto Wolfpack’s Betfred Championship Round 9 clash against Sheffield Eagles will take place at New River Stadium in London, UK (K.O. 3:05pm). The clash in the UK capital will be part of an exciting double header on Saturday April 6 with the League 1 match up between hosts London Skolars and Workington Town (K.O. 12:15pm).
For the second season in succession the Wolfpack will play a home game in London as the team pledges to fly their flag and grow the game in the UK capital and further links between two of the world’s most iconic cities. The Pack appeared at London’s New River Stadium in Round 12 of the 2018 Betfred Championship season, where they triumphed 42-10 over Halifax RLFC.
Teaming up to deliver a full day festival of rugby on Saturday April 6 further tightens the bond between the Wolfpack and London Skolars. During the offseason the world’s first transatlantic side announced a ground-breaking partnership with the Skolars. As well as the Wolfpack assuming a sizeable minority stake in the London club, the agreement includes commercial, performance, development and community support. The two teams will also collaborate and share best practice in digital marketing, media, PR and fan engagement.
Fans in the UK capital will enjoy the unique experience of a day out with the Wolfpack, while those longing for a taste of Canada will be treated to food and drink delivered by the Wolfpack’s Canadian partners in London. The Wolfpack’s famous Craft Beer Garden will also be recreated at New River Stadium. A wide range of Canadian theme family game day entertainment, including live music, will be on show with details to follow in the coming weeks.
With over 80,000 Canadian-born people living in the UK, the Wolfpack are sure to have strong support on-hand. This will include representatives from the High Commission of Canada, who are continuing the invaluable support they have given the Wolfpack over the last two seasons. A number of Canadian businesses with UK bases will also be invited as the Wolfpack continue to champion transatlantic trade opportunities for sponsors and partners.
London Skolars and Workington Town will get the afternoon underway at 12.15pm, with Toronto Wolfpack and Sheffield Eagles set to commence battle at 3.05pm. The Wolfpack Vs Eagles game will be shown on Sky Sports in the UK, Game TV and CBC Sports (online) in Canada as well as through global broadcast partners (TBC).
Tickets are on sale now with Early Bird prices set at just £15 for Adults and £10 for Concessions, meaning fans will enjoy two games for the price of one. Prices will increase to £20 for Adults and £15 for Concessions on game day and fans are encouraged to book in advance and save, either buying online at London Skolars’ Eventbrite Ticketing Page, or in person at the New River Stadium Box Office (open at the home games against Newcastle Thunder and Keighley Cougars).
