London Skolars returned to preseason training on Tuesday evening as preparations continue for the 2019 Betfred League 1 campaign. Head Coach Jermaine Coleman gathered his players at New River Stadium for a short gym session before taking them onto the pitch for some cardio and ball work.

Coleman, fresh from leading Jamaica to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup for the first time ever, was pleased with the effort his players showed in the session but insisted there’s a long way to go before their fitness reaches its peak.

He said: “It was good for everyone to get back in and see everyone again. We had a good laugh and the boys worked really hard in training but you can definitely tell they’ve enjoyed themselves in the offseason.”

Omari Caro, who played in Jamaica’s World Cup qualifiers in Jacksonville under Coleman, recently signed a new contract with the club ensuring he will remain at New River Stadium for the 2019 season. The winger was part of the group that took part in preseason training on Tuesday and he enjoyed being around his teammates again following the offseason. Caro commented:

“It was great to be back at training in and amongst the boys. There were lots of smiles on our faces at the beginning, but not so many at the end. We’re looking forward to the next six weeks and to improving as a team.”
