London Skolars are pleased to announce the signing of Australian full back Joseph Burchell on a one-year deal. The 22-year-old will now link up with the team for pre-season training in preparation for the 2019 Betfred League 1 season.
Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars’ Head Coach, commented:
“We are excited to have Joseph on board. He’s a tall, strong, athletic young man who will pose threat on the edge or coming in the line from full back. We’re looking forward to seeing how he develops over the course of the season.”
Hector McNeil, London Skolars’ CEO, added:
“Joseph should add a real threat for us at the back. He is our fourth new recruit and the squad is building very nicely for us to take on the best next year.”
Burchell has experience at the highest level having spent the past four seasons with the likes of NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs as well as Queensland Cup clubs Wynnum Manly Seagulls, Northern Pride and Souths Logan Magpies.
He played for the Queensland Maroons under-18s State of Origin team in 2014, which was coach by current South Sydney Rabbitohs Head Coach Anthony Seibold. Burchell said:
“I’m delighted to have joined London Skolars for the 2019 season. I can’t wait to join the lads for preseason training and show the English game what I have to offer.”
