London Skolars are pleased to confirm the signing of prop Liam Scott on a one-year deal. The 24-year-old joins Skolars following a two-year spell at fellow Betfred League 1 side Newcastle Thunder.
Jermaine Coleman, London Skolars’ Head Coach, commented:
“We are delighted to have secured Liam’s signature. He’s a really young prospect with a lot of strength and potential as well as agility and dynamism for his size. He will add a lot to our pack and I’m really excited to work with him and to watch him develop.”
Hector McNeil, London Skolars’ CEO, added:
“Skolars are very happy to have Liam on board. He’s got a good pedigree in a good League 1 team and will bring some valuable size to our front row. His signing also shows we are strengthening the squad from outside to give us more depth across the team.”
Having been named North East Rugby League Player of the Year in 2016, Scott made the step up to the professional game the following year after catching the eye of Newcastle Thunder coaches during his time at Wallsend Eagles.
Scott scored six tries for Thunder last season as they finished eighth in the Betfred League 1 standings. Scott featured in Newcastle’s 46-14 win over Skolars in August. Comfortable playing as either a prop or second row, he is a physical forward with impressive ball handling skills. He said:
“I’m delighted to have signed with the London Skolars. It was a big decision and an equally big move down to the capital but I am eager to get back at it, continue my progression in the game and get around the boys for a strong 2019 season.”
