Skolars fall to defeat on Doncaster trip

Betfred League One: Doncaster 38 London Skolars 6

London Skolars saw their losing run in Betfred League One reach six games after a 38-6 defeat at Doncaster.

A disastrous opening ten minutes meant Skolars had little chance of ending their losing run.

London conceded a penalty in the first minute and Doncaster attacked straight away, with Jason Tali brushing off Billy Driver to score on the left. An error by Mike Bishay saw the home side start a set of tackles close to the tryline and they pushed the ball to the left, before switching inside for Richard Owen to dive over.

Worse was to come as the kick-off went straight into touch and Doncaster attacked again with Hakim Miloudi joining the line on the left to score. Skolars finally got a chance to attack and, after a break by Bishay was continued by Neil Thorman and Sam Nash, they were in a good position.

However, Lameck Juma had moved inside when Thorman passed out to the wing with the line open and the chance was gone. Juma made amends, scoring London’s only try of the afternoon after Doncaster lost the ball early in the tackle count, with Thorman adding the conversion.

Doncaster went into the break 20-6 up after Miloudi, came into the attacking line at pace, before offloadfing for Jack Logan to score. The home side conceded a penalty in the first minute of the second half, but there was no one in support when Daymeric Pelo made a half-break. Doncaster went further ahead through a Connor Scott try and it took an interception by Driver to prevent another.

Kyle Kesik slipped past the tacklers in front of the posts for the Don’s sixth try. The hosts added another three minutes later when the ball was pushed to the right from a scrum on their 10 metre line for Logan to race 90 metres for his second try. Skolars tried a short kick-off, but lost possession and had to defend with a man short for the last five minutes after Bishay was sin-binned for dissent.

London are without a game this weekend and are next in action when they host Keighley Cougars at New River Stadium on August 24.
