London Skolars have today confirmed the signing of the highly rated Wakefield Trinity forward, Lewis Wray.
The big second rower joins the men from New River on an initial one month loan period and will be available for the Skolars next home game against Hunslet. Wray has appeared for Wakefield in the Boxing Day clash against reigning Super League Champions, Leeds Rhinos and hails from the Farnley Falcons club.
Commenting on the capture, Skolars Head Coach Jermaine Coleman, said:
“Lewis is a strong recruit for us and will add some size and bash into our middles. He has been touted as a rising star for Wakefield and it is quite a coup for us to attract this calibre of highly regarded player. We’d also like to thank the Trinity club and in particular coach Chris Chester and Chairman Michael Carter for providing us with the opportunity to sign Lewis. We’re looking forward to seeing him develop.”
Skolars General Manager, Simon Fox, concluded:
“Our relationships with other clubs this season in securing dual registration and loan players has been crucial. Wakefield along with our good friends at the London Broncos as well as Wigan and Toronto have helped us grow our own home produced players and accelerate their development. The likes of Elliot Hall have benefited significantly from having players who operate in full time surroundings at the top level supporting them on and off the field. Our thanks go to all those clubs who are helping the expansion of rugby league in the capital.”
Wray is in line to make his debut for the Skolars against Hunslet, on Saturday 9th June at New River Stadium. Advanced discount tickets can be obtained here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/london-skolars-v-hunslet-tickets-41867911049
