London Skolars have announced their latest player capture for 2018 with the signing of former Skolars’ player, Neil Thorman. The half back who originally joined the Skolars in 2010, rejoins the club from Australian side Coogee Dolphins.
Thorman made his ‘debut’ in the Skolars’ 30-10 victory against West Wales Raiders at Trailfinders Sports Club.
Commenting on the new addition, Skolars’ Head Coach Jermaine Coleman, said:
“Neil is a strong addition for us and provides tremendous guile and game smarts in a tough league. Quality half backs are often rare at this level so by bringing him back to his ‘second home’ at New River it will give us a real injection in the build up to the new BetFred League 1 season. Our mixture of experience in the halves will blend well with our home produced young players and hopefully accelerate their learning and quality of players produced in the South East.”
Newcastle born Thorman has previously played for Gateshead Thunder, York City Knights, SO Avignon Bisons in France, Whitehaven and Coogee Dolphins.
On joining the club for 2018, Thorman said:
“London Skolars has always had a special place in my heart so to sign for 2018 feels a little bit like a return to my second home. There’s an excellent mix of experienced pro’s and enthusiastic raw talent here and I’m looking forward to working with every player, doing our best and making sure we let the league and world know how much quality there is in London and the massive untapped potential here.”
The Skolars first home game in BetFred League 1 is on Saturday 10th March against Newcastle Thunder at New River Stadium.
