London Skolars are pleased to announce that hooker Billy Driver has re-signed for the forthcoming season.
Billy hails from Dagenham, East London, he was introduced to Rugby League around the age of fifteen where he played for the Brentwood Eels. There he took to the game with relative ease, and was quickly spotted by London Bronco’s, initially appearing for the Scholarship and under 18 sides on the wing.
However, at under 20’s, under the guidance of Mick Howell, Billy was transformed into an impact hooker. Frequently appearing from the bench to take advantage of the tiring middle defences of opposing sides. He produced much of his best rugby during this period, finishing as one of the team’s best performers in his final year.
Upon leaving the London Bronco’s Billy trained with the London Skolars briefly before trying Rugby Union. He enjoyed spells with Barking and more recently Southend RFC, even making an appearance for Wasps A side. Mid way through 2015 Billy returned to the London Skolars, during his second spell in Rugby League he has established himself as an important member of the squad.
Billy has also quickly become a fan favourite during his time at the club, with his footwork and lightening acceleration causing havoc for opposing defences, often leaving people on the edge of their seats. To see him and the rest of the team in action, be sure to get your season ticket for 2017.
