London Skolars are delighted to announce a trio of re signings for the forthcoming season, joining Dave Williams and Ryan Chester who have also penned thus far.
Aaron Smalls, Eddie Mbaraga and Charlie Lawrence will all feature again for the club in 2017.
Aaron Smalls came through the London Skolars junior ranks and made his debut for the first team in 2010 on the wing, he played a handful of games that season, scoring on one occasion against the Newcastle Thunder. In a quest for more playing time, he moved to the Hemel Stags, here he flourished, playing primarily as a centre he offered strong carries and some deft touches to put his winger away. In 2015 he was re recruited by head coach Jermaine Coleman, since his return he has been one of the first choices on the team sheet, missing a handful of games in the past two seasons due to injury.
Our second returnee Eddie Mbaraga is also a London Skolars junior, however he did not make a first team appearance before he departed to play for the North London Stags. He then earned a place in the Hemel Stags squad, where he became a versatile player, known for his trademark big carries in the opposition 20. After three successful seasons, he returned to the London Skolars for 2016 playing all but a couple of fixtures this season. Despite playing primarily as a second row, Mbaraga finished around double figures in the try scoring charts with notably performances against Toulouse and Doncaster.
Our final re-signing for this year is pivot Charlie Lawrence. A West London junior, he was picked up by the London Bronco’s where he progressed through their youth system. Upon leaving the Bronco’s he was picked up by the Hemel Stags in 2015. After his decent form for the side, he followed Mbaraga to the London Skolars for the 2016 season. He is comfortable at both hooker and half back with a very good kicking game, he earnt the Man of the Match award in our home defeat to Gateshead Thunder this year.
