As the regular London Junior League draws to a close. Coaches and players attentions turn towards the much anticipated London Origin Series which takes place over the 4 weekends in September. After another fantastic season for our junior teams, 14 young of our players have been recognised for their efforts throughout the season with selection across the 3 different age groups.
London Origin is the jewel in the crown of London Rugby League, it provides young players and coaches with a genuine elite competition that brings together the best of the best, there is a friendly rivalry between the North and the South and over the course of the the 2 game series, it’s fantastic to see the players and coaches all buy into it to create a quality spectacle for parents and supporters alike.
It is expected that these 14 Juniors will also be joined by Skolars Junior coaches, with the coaching teams yet to be announced.
Community Development Manager Matt Cuss spoke of the inclusion of the youngsters ‘it’s a testament to the hard-work of all our coaches and our young players that again we have such a high representation in the 2016 Hard Rock Café Origin Series, throughout the year our volunteer coaches and players work extremely hard to ensure that we have an environment that encourages the development of our players. It’s a real honour for these boys selected to represent the Skolars as they link up with the best players from other clubs based in North London and face off against their counterparts from the Southern teams. Cuss continued ‘each year the Origin series produces some fantastic encounters, and I’m sure 2016 will be no different, and I’m sure our Junior players selected will perform crucial roles across their different age groups during the series.
The players selected will link up for 2 training sessions in familiar territory, with New River chosen as the North training base thanks to Barnet & Southgate College’s sponsorship. Congratulations to the players selected:
