Skolars Playing for Top 8 Spot against All Golds

2nd July 2016

The result of this weekend’s between Skolars and All Golds match will determine whether or not Skolars make the play offs.

A top 8 spot beckons but there remains only one final barrier.  Gloucestershire All Golds.

The team travel out to Cheltenham tomorrow and will have one final chance to make a push for the finals after last week’s defeat to Doncaster.

And Skolars know they don’t’ have an easy assignment ahead of them.

“I think the All Golds will be up for it massively. They’re another southern team and I’m sure they’ll be looking to get the upper hand,’’ said head coach, Jermaine Coleman.

“It’s a make or break game for both of us but for us especially, it’s a chance to guarantee ourselves a spot in the top 8 so it’s a massive fixture for us this week,” he said.

“It’s really important that we get in the top 8 as that’s where we see ourselves being.  Like every week though, we just do need to make sure we’re all focused on doing our job and doing it well for the whole the game, to give ourselves the best opportunity for a good result.’’

The forward battle will be another highlight and the coach is looking for his pack to make an immediate impact.

“It’s really important our forwards come out and start well like they did against Barrow.  If they do that, we’ve got some good quality players in our team who can score points,’’ he said.

Skolars play Gloucestershire University All Golds on Sunday 3 July at 3pm, Prince of Wales Stadium.
