This Saturday (May 21st) at 2.30pm will see London Skolars welcome Keighley Cougars to the New River stadium for a Kingstone Press League One clash.
As it is a year to the month since the tragic and sudden loss of Danny Jones in this corresponding fixture last season, the club have decided to put on a fund raiser for the Danny Jones Defib fund.
After last year’s events, everyone involved with the club was profoundly affected and has since felt the urge to support a fellow player and show its allegiance to the Rugby League family.
The club felt it was proper to approach Lizzie Jones to ask for her blessing before proceeding, as ever she was dignified in her response ‘I’m so grateful for the tremendous support for me and the Danny Jones Defib fund from the London Skolars. Once again my wonderful rugby league family have shone through.
Please support the game against Keighley cougars as some of the proceeds will go into saving lives through Danny’s Charity. Thank you for all your ongoing love and support.’
The two sides faced off in the Ipro cup semifinal at the end of April providing what many Skolars fans would declare the most exciting fixture they have seen in recent years.
With a cup final berth up for grabs there was plenty of feisty confrontation and free flowing rugby, all played in front of a raucous atmosphere. Keighley ended up narrowly victorious and the Skolars will be looking to avenge that result this time around.
If the action on the field wasn’t enough, the Skolars will be running a raffle throughout the game where you have the opportunity to win a number of great signed pieces of memorabilia.
