London Skolars have added major depth to the clubs back line this week signing three outside backs for the forthcoming season. Yet again all of these have experience in League One.
The first of this trio is Jimmy Morgan, he began playing rugby back in his native Yorkshire for Hunslet Warriors. He was then discovered by the Bradford Bulls where he spent time in their academy, before moving down south for University. He attended Brunel whilst appearing for London Bronco’s and was selected to represent England students one of those years. Mainly a winger, Jimmy has good speed and an extremely high work rate, regularly nearing the top of the charts for carries.
Our next signing is a returnee to the club, Lameck Juma. Lameck began his rugby league career with the Greenwich Admirals before being drafted into London Bronco’s academy (Then Harlequins RL) he made several appearances at both winger and in the forwards. Upon leaving the club he signed for London Skolars for the 2012 season, playing a handful of games primarily as a winger. After spells in rugby union mainly with Barking he has returned. Fans should be sure to watch out for his immense strength and power this year, he is exceptionally difficult to stop.
The final player to announce is fullback Andy Winfield. Andy began playing Rugby League while at Cambridge University in 2010. After completing his degree, he became a teacher, but continued to play Rugby League, signing with Oxford RL and representing Great Britain teachers. With his game time being limited, Winfield moved closer to where he was working and signed with Coventry Bears, his debut came against London Skolars where he scored a hat trick- one of those being a full length kick return. Andy is another player with plenty of pace, providing great competition for places.
