London Skolars are pleased to announce the signings of five players to the squad for the forthcoming season.
The first two of this collection are the fruits of Exeter universities strong rugby league programme. Alex Mills Baker is an outside back, who originally hails from Warwickshire and was only introduced to Rugby League at 18. However he proved to be a natural and progressed through the university level to represent South west students and then Great Britain Pioneers on their trip to North Africa in 2013. Known for his exceptional work rate and good footwork, he should prove a welcome addition to the squad this year. The other Exeter alumni member is Adam Roels, Adam is a back rower who was part of the same competitive Exeter side as Alex who finished strongly in the BUCS competition last year.
Our second two are Skolars juniors, twins Judd and Michael Greenhalgh. Judd primarily a centre had several appearances in the backline in 2014 under Joe Mbu. He went on to represent the Philippines at the end of the year, a reward for his prolific try scoring form for a somewhat struggling side. The last season for him was written off by an injury he picked up on international duty, which he is still rehabilitating now. The club look forward to his return. Michael, a second row has made a few appearances for the first team despite the fact he is relatively young and will be looking to increase on those numbers this year as he is now a fully integrated member of the first team squad.
Finally we have captured former Hemel Stag Ryan Chester. Although Ryan is mainly used as a prop forward nowadays, he initially began his rugby league career as a winger at St. Marys University. This transition proved to be a relatively smooth one as Ryan made the South England students side and subsequently the England students training squad. With this pedigree Ryan will be sure to be pushing for a place in what is an already extremely competitive pack.
