London Skolars are delighted to announce the re-signing of 5 key squad players for the 2016 season.
The pack is strengthened with Ollie Bloom, Dion Chapman and Mike Benson all committing to another season with the club. Whilst the back-row and centre combinations will be bolstered with the signatures of Joe Price and Aaron Smalls also secured.
Hard-working forward Mike Benson has been rewarded for a solid first season here at London Skolars with another deal. Benson provided key cover in numerous positions last season and his hard carries and fitness levels were a massive factor in the number of appearances he made throughout the year. A solid defender and ball carrier, Benson will be hoping to kick on even further this year and look to cement a starting position in side.
Long serving prop’s Ollie Bloom and Dion Chapman may be at different ends of the age spectrum, however they both offer a massive amount of experience and value to the squad on and off the field. Chapman, a graduate of the London Skolars Junior programme and the Rugby League Academy at Barnet and Southgate College will be looking to build upon his great start from last season, whilst the experienced Bloom will be looking to get some momentum behind his training and look to force his way into an impressive looking pack.
Head Coach Jermaine Coleman’s back row and centre options will be further increased by Joe Price and Aaron Small penning new deals. Both player’s re-appeared in Skolars colours last year after a year away from the club, Joe Price recovering from a serious shoulder re-construction and Aaron Small gaining some invaluable experience with Hemel Stags. Both players showed their worth throughout the whole of 2015 being ever present towards the latter stages of the season. They offer a great threat on the edge but also have the strength and size to mix it in the middle as quality back-rowers and will add cover and versatility to Coleman’s squad for 2016.
