Over the last few weeks the London Junior Origin Series has taken place across various venues of the Capital. After what has been the best ever season for our Junior sides, where we saw all 3 age groups reach the play-offs, 20 Skolars youngsters were selected for the Origin sides which is the equivalent of County level at Rugby Union.

These 20 Juniors were also joined by 3 of Skolars Junior coaches, with Paul Quill heading up the U13’s, Ian Ackley assisting with the U15’s and Matt Cuss completing the coaching team at U19 Level.

Community Development Manager Matt Cuss spoke of the inclusion of the youngsters and coaches ‘it’s a testament to the hard-work of all our coaches and our young players that we had such a high representation in the 2015 Hard Rock Café Origin Series, throughout the year our volunteer coaches and players work extremely hard in the black red and green of the Skolars jersey, however it’s an honour for those selected to link up with the best players from the other clubs based in the North and face off against the cream of the Southern teams.’ Cuss continued ‘each year the Origin series provides some outstanding games, and 2015 has been no different, with our Juniors performing crucial roles across their different age groups throughout all 3 games. This year it was also fantastic to see our eldest players given the opportunity in the one off U19 game, which was keenly contested until the South pulled away in the second half.’

Origin is the jewel in the crown of London Rugby League, it provides young players and coaches with a genuine elite competition that brings together the best of the best, there is a friendly rivalry between the North and the South and it’s great to see parents, players and coaches all buy into it every single year. It’s a showcase for the Junior game in London and long may it continue.
