After two extremely competitive performances against York City Knights and North Wales Crusaders, the Skolars recorded their 5th win of the season against southern rivals, Coventry Bears 28-18 at the Butts Park Arena.
The Skolars lead at the break after tries from John Paxton, Dave Williams, and Billy Driver. But Tommy Connick could only convert one of three first-half tries as the Bears responded through Chris Barratt and Jack Morrison to trail 10-14 at the interval. Coventry’s Dan Price converting one of two.
The hosts momentarily lead 18-14 as Jamahl Hunte and Simon Phillips went over but Price didn’t add to their scoreline as Price couldn’t covert both opportunities.
The visitors made them pay as another Driver try, a Connick penalty, and a converted James Anthony score helped the Skolars secure an important late season victory in building momentum for 2016.
