Captain Dave Williams and powerful forward Will Lovell have recommitted to the Skolars for the 2016 League 1 season.
Dave Williams has been integral to the London Skolars squad this season, much like in other recent seasons. However this year, his particularly good start to the season saw him join London Bronco’s on loan, during which he was sorely missed. Dave is not only a huge player in terms of stature but also in what he brings to the club. A model professional, Dave is one of the hardest trainers but also the first person Skolars’ younger players turn to for any advice on improving their game. He has a wealth of top level experience in the game and is a great ambassador for the club.
The second signing Will Lovell is perceived by many as not only the clubs best performer of the season but also one of the top back rowers in the whole competition. His performances against some of the very best clubs in the division have gone a long way to cementing that perception and it is obvious to see his previous professional pedigree. Will’s long reach has produced some of the more memorable tries of the season, fending off players as well as producing some sublime offloads.
Skolars Director of Rugby, Mark Croston when asked for his thoughts on the matter was delighted to see both Dave and Will commit to next year’s campaign. He said ‘2015 has been the clubs toughest year. Both Dave and Will have worked tirelessly to ensure we came through our early season struggles and will be part of a very exciting 2016 for Skolars. Although we still have a lot to play for this year, we are determined to finalise our 2016 squad soon, enabling us to focus on a new and exciting league structure next season. ‘
With these two leaders already re-signing with the club be sure to watch a wave of Skolars recommit for the 2016 season. Combined with the reopening of the stadium and its facilities, there is sure to be an aura of positivity around the club next season for the fans to enjoy
