Thunder stay on track

Newcastle Thunder maintained their promotion charge in Kingstone Press League 1 with a 19-12 victory at London Skolars.

The Skolars made a bright start and tries from Will Lovell and Joel Wicks and a pair of goals from Marcus Elliot gave them a 12-0 lead after 12 minutes.

But that was as good as it got for the hosts as Newcastle responded and Matthew Marsh, Rhys Clarke and Evan Simons went in for tries.

Matty Beharrell converted all three and added a drop-goal to secure the victory.
