Head Coach Jermaine Coleman has strengthening the Skolars squad leading into Sunday’s away fixture against South Wales Scorpions.

In comes 29 year old Craig Boot (pictured) who signs a month long loan from Newcastle Thunder. The powerful running loose forward, who can also play in the second row or at hooker, impressed in the amateur game for Bramley Buffalos. As a result he was then picked up by Gateshead on a 1 year contract for 2015. His aggression and grit is something Skolars have missed with their two regular starting props, Club Captain Dave Williams (on loan to the Broncos) and Louis Robinson (broken ribs) both unavailable for the weekend’s fixture.

Jermaine Coleman said; ‘Boot comes from a good pedigree of amateur rugby up in Leeds and has had a very good pre-season in Newcastle. From all accounts he is one of the fittest forwards in the club and will bring us some toughness in the middle of the park.’

Joel Wicks comes to the club on dual registration from the London Broncos joining recent signing winger Jimmy Morgan, both set to make their debuts this weekend. Wicks a 21 year old loose forward/hooker will look to impress and fight his way into a winning Broncos side after progressing through their academy system. The loose forward hooker has played in 5 of the Broncos first 2015 games. Jimmy Morgan signs for the club after a stint at Hemel Stags in 2014.

Jermaine Coleman said; ‘Joel brings a lot of professionalism as he is full time at the Broncos. Again he will bring much needed grit and guile to the forwards here at Skolars.’

Having impressed on his months loan to Boncos Dave Williams loan agreement has been extended by one week.
