Following discussions last week the London Skolars agreed to release Captain David Williams on a one month loan to the London Broncos. Interim Broncos Coach Andrew Henderson was keen to bring in Williams as a cover following injuries to key forwards at the club. The Skolars wanted Dave to join the Broncos on a dual contract arrangement allowing him to play on a week by week basis for both clubs rather than a 1 month loan.

Skolars CEO, Hector McNeil had this to say “The dual contract would have been ideal but the RFL would not allow it. We thought long and hard about losing Dave for a month. He was keen to prove himself at the higher level and as a club we felt it was a positive thing that we make it work. It sends a strong message to the players that even in times of adversity good players still get opportunities. Dave will still be around the club at all training sessions.

Broncos have also agreed to deepen our relationship and we will be meeting with Jason Loubser and Andrew Henderson to discuss this in more detail in the next week or so.”

The club are also happy to announce that former Skolars player, Co-Head and last year’s Assistant Coach, Marcus Tobin has agreed to come back in a caretaker role until we find a permanent replacement. Marcus is a top class coach in both codes and knows the lads and the club inside out. He will hit the ground running and help us pick up the pace for the Hemel game in just under 3 weeks.

The recruitment process for a new coach is progressing well with a number of very good coaches approaching the club to express their interest for the role. The club hopes to continue the recruitment process and to make an announcement in time for the Hemel game on Friday April 3rd.
