Louis Robinson has once again committed another year to London Skolars for the 2015 season. This will be Louis’s 3rd season at the club which has seen him continually improve into a player who has solidified his spot in the starting 17.
Louis started out his playing days as a junior at Hemel Stags and was spotted by Harlequins RLFC where he progressed through to U20s. Many Skolars players over the years have followed the similar pathway such as current Skolars players, captain Dave Williams, James Anthony, Anthony Cox & Sam Druce. Showing that the link between London Broncos & London Skolars is still strong and consistently producing good quality League 1 players.
Having shown his impact in Championship 1 Louis was also selected to play for Canada in a 3 game series vs. the USA (Colonial Cup) where Canada were narrowly defeated in the last game to make it 2-1. Then selected to play in the Caribbean Cup vs. Jamaica helping them towards victory, and along the way grabbing a few tries to make his Canada international total 3 tries and 8 goals in 7 games, a very impressive record for a prop forward.
Regularly used as an impact player, coming off the bench when teams are tiring causing maximum disruption in their defences. He’s known for hard running and general disregard for his own health making Louis is a fan favourite. This year however he has his eye on a starting shirt as he works to improve his fitness and works toward cementing his spot in the 8 shirt to partner Mr reliable number 10 Dave Williams. Louis is relishing the opportunity and had this to say,
‘After spending the off-season recovering from injuries and rebuilding I am excited to get back to training, putting in 100% to improve as a player and then put all of that to use on the pitch. I’m really itching to prove myself out there and that starts with the two games in January (The Capital Challenge vs. Wigan on 16th Jan & Broncos vs. Skolars Jan 25th)’
Head coach Joe Mbu added,
‘It’s great to have Louis re-sign. He was very consistent coming off the bench last year as an impact player, was definitely one of our best forwards. He is a really exciting player to watch and just have around the squad’.
