New, exciting, inclusive rugby sessions for young people in Haringey.
Inclusive rugby sessions for young people aged 14 to 25 are now up and running in Haringey. In a ground breaking partnership, the Access Sport Ignite Programme is partnering with London Skolars RFL and Haringey Rhinos RFC to deliver inclusive sessions for young people with varying disabilities.
The sessions are taking place at the brand new, floodlit, 3G pitch at White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, every Wednesday between 4pm and 5pm. Coaches from both the Skolars and Rhinos will be delivering the sessions and ensuring all participants, regardless of ability, enjoy a high quality, inclusive playing experience.
Matt Cuss, Skolars Community Development Manager will have overall responsibility for coaching and says “the coaching team have some great ideas to make sure the sessions are fun for everybody. London Skolars are excited to be part of the new partnership and we’re looking forward to introducing more young people to such a great game.”
The new inclusive sessions are a key stage in the development of rugby in the borough and demonstrate the commitment of both London Skolars and Haringey Rhinos to making rugby a sport for everybody.
Helen Rayfield, Haringey Rhinos’ Director of Youth Rugby, confirms “the Rhinos are thrilled to be part of such a great initiative which is part of our ongoing commitment to develop rugby in Haringey.”
The sessions will focus on fun and enjoyment, will welcome young people who just want to give it a try, and those that have tried it, liked it, and want to play again!
Sarah Train, London Club Development Manager for Access Sport says “Access Sport is very enthusiastic about this innovative development for the Ignite Programme in Haringey. The inclusive rugby sessions will focus on fun and participation, and we are hoping to attract young people from both Haringey and the surrounding boroughs. This exciting approach to joined-up delivery between Access Sport, Skolars and Rhinos will ensure the continued growth of inclusive rugby into 2015 and beyond”.
