Seasoned veteran John Paxton re-signs for Skolars once again. This will now be Paxton’s 6th year with the club. He has made a total of 99 appearances scoring 22 tries and this year hopes to make it to the sought after 100 game milestone. He has graced the field in a number of positions, but most commonly used as a strong defensive centre and strike runner. Always one to stand up and take the hard carries when needed and not shy of a bit of contact, Paxton continues to be a great club man for Skolars and a favourite among his team.
Upon dedicating the next year to Skolars he had this to say;
‘Last season was a tough one for the boys and the club as a whole; but I’m looking forward to getting back out there and showing the fans what Skolars is all about. Rugby League is the greatest game and there is nothing better than running out onto the field and giving it your all with mates beside you, knowing they are doing the same’
Coach Joe Mbu commented;
‘John has been consistently one of the strongest players in the Skolars set up in the past 3 years. Week to week he performs and his ability to play wing, centre and fullback gives us some great options and freedom within the squad. Whichever position he plays he always gives his all and to reach 100 games for the club will be a great and deserved achievement for him’.
