London Skolars are proud to announce the signing of former player James Anthony.
James was with the club from 2011-2013 scoring 20 tries in his penultimate season, matching the Skolars season record of 20 set by Mark Cantoni. James made 60 appearances and scored 37 tries. Placing him 3rd on the all-time (pro era) list for Skolars, behind Austin Aggrey (57) and Ade Adebisi (52).
Last season James tried his hand in Australia, singing for Newtown Jets RLFC. He was also selected to play a pre-season friendly for Newtown’s partner club Sydney Roosters against the NRL opposition of Newcastle Knights.
Here is what James had to say about re-signing ‘Skolars have given me some great memories. And this year I can see that Joe Mbu and the whole of the organisation have some real ambition to compete in League 1. With the new £4million pitch refurbishment (we will now be playing on a 4G artificial surface) the game is going to be quick and will really suit my style of play’.
Coach Joe Mbu commented ‘James brings some great experience back with him from Australia and we are looking forward to seeing him in the red and green shirt of Skolars. These sort of signings show out intentions for the season ahead’.
