It wasn’t just the weather that was warm at Donkey Lane last weekend, the welcome received from the volunteers of both Enfield Town FC and Enfield Ignations RFC was outstanding.
The football club’s staff and supporters could not do enough to help from start to finish and even then were asking what they could do to improve on things for our fixture against South Wales Scorpions on Saturday 7th June, ko 3pm. Enfield fans also took to twitter to express their delight at hosting the Skolars and recruiting more Town fans to attend the Scorpions’ fixture.
For their part Skolars’ fans were fulsome in their praise for their hosts and the ability to watch the game from a number of vantage points, sample the real ale from the bar and beer tent and take advantage of Sky Sports’ Magic Weekend coverage.
Meanwhile neighbours Ignations, along with Enfield Council, helped with the supply of their first team posts plus the staging of the U19 fixture between Skolars and the All Golds. Members of the Club also attended the game and certainly seemed to have enjoyed the afternoon from their vantage point on the roof terrace!
Our visitors also enjoyed the hospitality afforded to them with All Golds’ President and former London Broncos CEO Lionel Hurst commenting that the event had been ‘perfectly hosted’. Whilst the outcome of the game may have been disappointing for the Skolars there can be no doubting that the day as a whole was an unqualified success and everyone is looking forward to the next game on June 7th.
