London Skolars are delighted to announce that Leeds Rhinos and former Great Britain and England legend Jamie Peacock MBE will be one of two special guest speakers at the 2014 Capital Challenge.
The 2014 Challenge will be between Skolars and Wigan Warriors and takes place at the prestigious Honourable Artillery Company’s grounds in the City of London on Friday 24th January. Prior to the game Skolars will host a special luncheon for 200+ guests in the Prince Consort Room at the venue and guests will get the opportunity to hear from a true legend of the modern game.
Peacock’s career in the professional game now spans 14 years and includes 207 appearances for Bradford Bulls and 217 appearances for Leeds Rhinos, who he joined in 2006. A distinguished international career included captaining Great Britain in 2006 to their first defeat of Australia in Australia in 12 years.
Peacock’s club career has seen him notch up a record 8 Grand Final wins, the most recent coming in 2012 and he has won no less than 4 world club challenges, two with the Bulls and two with the Rhinos.
Talking about Peacock’s appearance at the Capital Challenge Skolars General Manager Howard Kramer had this to say: “We are thrilled that Jamie has agreed to speak at January’s Capital Challenge luncheon. Jamie has been a strong supporter of Rugby League in the South and this summer he ran a very successful summer activity camp at our ground when nearly 60 kids enjoyed two fantastic days of sport, the highlight of which was meeting Jamie and Ryan Hall. I’m sure our Capital Challenge guests will be truly inspired and entertained by one of the best players of his generation. Over the coming days we’ll be announcing another legend of the game, who will be joining Jamie on the platform at the Capital Challenge Lunceon. Guests attending the event are in for a real treat with two fantastic guest speakers.”
Peacock is no stranger to public speaking and one engagement in 2012 saw England Rugby Union Coach Stuart Lancaster call on the Rugby League star to give a motivational talk to the England Rugby Union squad.
On announcing his appearance at the Capital Challenge Peacock commented: “I am very happy to be the guest speaker at such a great event. The Capital Challenge is an exciting event and shows the progress league has made over the years that we have such a strong Championship side in Skolars playing at such a prestigious location in the heart of the World’s largest financial centre. Having Wigan as opposition should be a massive draw for the London RL community. I am really looking forward to being the guest speaker and seeing the event first hand.
