After scoring a try after only two minutes of his Skolars debut on Sunday former Super League and GB star Gareth Raynor will make his home debut next Sunday, the 4th August, when Skolars host current league leaders Oldham Roughyeds in a crucial Championship 1 fixture at New River.
Raynor made his first start in Skolars colours and helped the club score its 5th consecutive league victory with a 28-35 win at University of Gloucestershire All Golds. The win lifted Skolars into third place in the table and, with just five games left, the race is on to secure a play-off place, at the very least. Oldham visit New River buoyed by an impressive win over North Wales Crusaders at the weekend.
Skolars penultimate home league game of the regular season is also a designated “Super Sunday” game and will feature a mini real ale festival and a great curtain raiser match between Skolars A’s and Hammersmith Hills Hoists, the club from West London who currently lead the London Premier League Table.
Commenting on the occasion Skolars General Manger Howard Kramer had this to say: “Our Super Sunday games have certainly brought in the crowds this season and I’m sure it’s not just for the beer on offer! The Oldham game looks like being a significant fixture as we reach the business end of the season. London Rugby League fans have a fantastic opportunity to watch one of Super League’s true stars, Gareth Raynor, in action and what a start he made on his debut. We have a great line up of entertainment in store and there’s still time to log on to Skolars website and get your ½ price ticket for this great event.”
London Skolars v Oldham Roughyeds kicks off at 3.00pm on Sunday 4th August. Tickets are available at skolarsstag.wpengine.com
