Skolars Juniors Weekend Round Up

22nd May 2013

Last weekend saw all teams play aside from the under 16s, who had a bye. The performance of the day went to under 12s who picked up an outstanding win against Staines Titans, 38-28. Daniel Fox, again starred for the home side with Gabe Ackley also playing his part in attack as well as adding three crucial conversions.

The under 14s went down against a very good Elmbridge team, 36-8, but there was a noteworthy defensive improvement from when the two teams last met two weeks ago. Some notable individual efforts from the game included Tom Scott who chased and caught an Elmbridge breakaway, preventing a certain try.  Emanuel Boley executed an almost technically perfect tackle from behind on a winger.  He was also penalised for a high tackle in the game – amazing as he is only 2 feet tall! Try scorers for the Skolars were DeDe Vidal-Adegun and Joel Kpoku.

The under 19s picked up their fifth win on the bounce, this time against Newham Dockers, 44-22, cementing their place at the top of the table. This weekend sees the finals of the Liontrust London RL Youth & Junior League Challenge Cup Finals in which the Skolars under 19s are the sole club representative, facing off against South London at Medway Park.

Following this weekend’s Challenge Cup Finals, it is the run in to the playoffs with only 6 weeks remaining. All teams are in with a great chance of making the post season deciders and should look to last year’s under 12s team who made the Grand Final from fifth place.
