Tickets go on sale for Festival Of World Cups Finals Day

16th May 2013

Festival of World Cups organisers have announced that tickets for the Police, Women’s and Student Rugby League World Cup Finals have gone on sale, with the three events taking place at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Sunday July 14.
The Festival Of World Cups Finals day is the culmination of two weeks of International Rugby League in July and promises to offer three exciting matches to bring the Festival to a crescendo. Tickets for the day are priced at £6 for Adults and £2 for Under 16s.
Julia Lee Event Director Festival of World Cups said: “ The Festival of World Cups will be a wonderful celebration of Rugby League this summer, part of a special year for the sport with the Rugby League World Cup being held in England and Wales this autumn.
“The Finals Day at Headingley on July 14 will be a wonderful family day out with a unique chance to see three finals all taking place in one day. Tickets have been priced to make the finals day as affordable as possible and they represent a great value fun family day out at just £6 for adults and £2 for under 16’s.”
World Champions Fiji will be looking to retain the Police Rugby League World Cup after winning the inaugural tournament in 2008 but will face stern opposition from an Australia and host nation Great Britain, who are preparing for their campaign with a series of fixtures against military opposition.
England will be hoping that a home crowd can roar them home to a World Cup victory in the Women’s competition, releasing the stranglehold that the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns have had on the World Cup since it was first contested in 2000. Rugby League heavyweights Australia and France will also be aiming high for an appearance at Headingley.
The profile of Student Rugby League in the UK has risen considerably in recent years and the World Cup is sure to increase that even further. With all four Home Nations rubbing shoulders with New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Russia, the tournament is certain to provide high quality matches throughout and the final is sure to be a cracker.
England and Leeds Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield said: “It’s a huge year for the sport and it’s fantastic that not only will two World Cup games be held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium but also that the final of the Festival of World Cups will take place here.
“It’s sure to be a great International tournament and the fact that ticket prices for the finals day are such good value for money I’m confident that rugby league fans will get behind the teams and show their support.”
