After a three week break without a game Skolars head coach Joe Mbu can’t wait to see his team back in action this weekend when South Wales Scorpions are the visitors to New River in a Kingstone Press Championship 1 fixture.
After being knocked out of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup and not having a 4th round tie Skolars then had to sit out a bye weekend, which saw Crusaders and Hemel Stags consolidate their 100% starts with home wins.
Skolars have enjoyed success in recent fixtures against Scorpions, including an impressive 12-54 win in Neath in the Northern Rail Group stages in March. Since then the Welsh outfit have shown improved form, including a narrow victory over Rochdale last weekend.
A few minor injury problems have cleared up and Skolars expect to have a fully fit squad available for selection as the club seeks to put it’s first league points on the board and climb off the bottom of the table.
The match is one of the club’s designated “Super Sunday” games in 2013 and those attending will be treated to some great entertainment, on and off the pitch, including:
- Guest real ales in the Olympic Suite – to read about the beers on offer click here
- Kingstone Press bottled Cider – making its Skolars debut!
- Our new “Guess the Score” Competition
- Half-time goal kicking competition
- Post match live entertainment in the Olympic Suite featuring singer Shoshana Burns
So, all in all, it promises to be a great afternoon of Rugby League and entertainment – something for everyone.
KO is at 3pm and the weather forecast (at least for now) is pleasant!
