On Saturday, a severely depleted Skolars ‘A’ team took on Elmbridge Eagles. In a test of the players mettle, they came out on top, winning 30-14.
Scot Whitby scored the try of the day from inside his own half, running 55m after breaking two tackles. Other try scorers were Liam Duffy, Raphael Sikwabi and Mark Ivers all scoring on debut. Angelo Thomas darted over for a try and Jack Avery was faultless with the boot kicking 5 from 5, as the Skolars secured the win after leading 18-8 at half time.
Head coach Dave Roberts was immensely satisfied with the victory in a difficult lead up to the game, “We executed the game plan almost perfectly. Every player that played should be proud of what they achieved. The effort and heart out there was top shelf.”
The Skolars ‘A’ play their next Southern Premier game against Eastern Rhinos, at home, this weekend.
