London Skolars are delighted to announce that they will host the next set of trials for their Barnet and Southgate College CORE programme on February 20th with a 10am start here at New River Stadium, Wood Green, N22 5QW.
The Centre of Rugby Education (CORE) is a three way partnership between Barnet and Southgate College, London Skolars and Saracens Rugby Union. Its main aim is to develop the best young rugby talent in the North London Area and has produced the likes of Smokie Junor (pictured) who scored recently in the Capital Challenge against the London Broncos.
The CORE programme is for students between 16 & 19 years old and combines education with rugby league and rugby union throughout the academic year. Fixtures are split between two ‘seasons’ with Rugby Union predominantly during the first term and then Rugby League following the Christmas break. Students who perform well during these periods are rewarded with the opportunity to go on and achieve county, regional and national squad recognition.
The trials will take the form of a training session, where prospective players will be given the chance to meet the Skolars and Saracens coaches and members of the current CORE squad. There will also be staff from the college on hand to discuss any academic matters and the courses available.
Prospective players can find out more information by visiting the website and following the link to Sports Performance Centre or by clicking on the link below:
As we will be running part of the training session indoors, all players are requested to turn up on the day with trainers, boots and a drink.
