Skolars ‘Rugby Challenge’ For Children In Need

13th November 2012

This coming Friday, 16th November will see hundreds of people across the country partake in some weird, wonderful and wacky challenges all in the name of the BBC’s Children in Need.

The Community department at Skolars will also be joining in with the fun of the day with a ‘Rugby Challenge’ planned for Southgate College’s CORE group.  Many of the boys involved will turn out for the Skolars U18 team during the coming season.

The rugby challenge will be a mixture of gym work and some field based activity – with tasks including a ‘Pull-up Challenge’ ‘Agility Run’ and a ‘Drop-Goal Contest’. The boy’s scores will be totalled up and the winner announced at the end, achieving the much coveted title of ‘Southgate Colleges Ultimate Athlete.’

Skolars Community Coach Matt Cuss who put together the challenge said “obviously with everyone around the country taking part in various activities we felt it was only right we at Skolars joined in and raised some awareness for Children in Need. The different stages of the challenge will test the boys physically and also their general rugby skills so will be of benefit to them from a playing aspect aswell. There is always the need to mix training up and keep things fresh and to be able to do this in the name of charity is great.”

Look out for some footage of the challenge which should be on the website next week.
