Give it a Go is an exciting sports campaign being run in Haringey and aims to support more people having a go at sport in their local area. Over 15 different sports clubs in Haringey will be organising free sports provision for people of all ages and abilities in October and November 2012.
The London Olympics were truly magnificent and have inspired a generation to become more active. Give it a Go offers Haringey residents the opportunity to try some of the sports and activities showcased at the Games such as basketball, cycling and athletics and it is a great way to keep the flame alive in individuals, communities, families and workplaces.
To formally launch the Give it a Go campaign in Haringey, London Skolars Rugby League Club are organising a celebration event on Saturday 6th October, 10-11:30am at White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre. The event is a great opportunity for young people to learn more about the sport and have a go in a friendly and welcoming environment before the free Give it a Go sessions start on the 13th October.
Paul Thorman, Community Manager for London Skolars is excited about the celebration event and upcoming Give it a Go campaign:

Give it a Go has been funded through the FreeSport strand of the Mayor’s Sport Legacy Programme and is being coordinated by PRO-ACTIVE North London and Waltham Forest Council. Director of PRO-ACTIVE North London, Adrian Ledbury, highlights the benefits of Give it a Go for the community:
“This initiative is a unique opportunity for Haringey residents to sample a range of sport and physical activities which might not normally be available to them. We have seen first hand, the power of the Olympics in motivating people of all ages and abilities to give sport a go and we are looking forward to starting Give it a Go in October”
