This weekend sees four Skolars teams in action, with the 1st team heading north on Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s match with Gateshead Thunder. Thunder’s stadium is not available so the match is being played at Filtrona Park, South Shields. Although Thunder’s form hasn’t been the best recently it is sure to be a closely contested game with Gateshead pushing for their first win of the season. With no major injury concerns to report 1st team coach Joe Mbu will be pushing for another much needed away win. This is the second of three games to be played over a 14 day period. After narrowly going down to Oldham, by 1 point, last week, the desire to bag the points will be huge. A win this weekend will stand the team in good stead for next week’s re-arranged game against South Wales.

The ‘A’ team will be traveling to Colchester to play their last away game of the season, against Eastern Rhino’s. They will be keen to bag the points and remain at the top of their table. With West London Sharks withdrawing from the league this is in fact the ‘A’s last league fixture of the season. Next weekend they will be facing Portsmouth in the Cup Final.

Skolars 18’s are playing away in their play off semi-final, against Barking and Dagenham. Neil Thorman, the under 18’s coach, will be pushing for the victory to get his team into the final after narrowly missing out last year at the same stage.

The under 12’s are also in action, again playing away, against  unbeaten Croydon Hurricanes. The last time the two teams met it was a tough game with Croydon dominating the play. The Skolars side though has seen a huge improvement in the second half of their season, only losing one game. Saturday’s game should prove to be a closely fought contest and the Skolars 12’s have a realistic chance of making the final in their very first season.
