London Skolars ‘A’ maintained their impressive form this season with a 15 try romp in a comprehensive 72-6 win over Greenwich Admirals in the Challenge Cup semi-finals, held at White Hart Lane.
There was no holding back from the Skolars as they ran in 7 unanswered tries in the first half through Thomas, Roche, Aggrey, Cawthorn, Smokie, Fletcher and Purslow. Cawthorn kicking 2 from 6 and G Vickers kicking 0 from 1. The first half finished with a convincing scoreline, London Skolars ‘A’ 30 – Greenwich Admirals 0.
Fresh from their half-time team talk, Skolars were determined to be more clinical in their second half and ran in an extra 8 tries, two of which came through Roche followed by Junor, Coleman and Renayne. Cawthorn kicking 2 from 3, and G Vickers 0 from 1. The Admirals fought back and on the end of a few penalties and a lapse in concentration by the Skolars, Raphael Sikwabi scored their only try of the game. Skolars retaliated through Gall, Hacke and Juma. G. Vickers kicking 3 from 4, leaving the final score line 72-6 to the London Skolars ‘A’.
James Roche was awarded MOTM after his stand out performance at back-row and scoring a hat-trick of tries. The win means that London Skolars ‘A’ will play the winner of Bedford Tigers or Portsmouth Navy Seahawks (TBC) in the Challenge Cup final, to be held on the 28th of July.
