Sunday’s game against Oldham sees the Islington Chamber of Commerce as the Match Sponsors and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support.
The Skolars became a member of the chamber a few months ago and are delighted to be working with one of the most pro-active chambers in the country. We have already reaped the rewards of some of the benefits of membership, with new businesses becoming involved with the Club through the Chamber, as well as being able to raise the profile of the Skolars in north London through various networking and promotional opportunities.
We would like to welcome the Islington Chamber of Commerce members to the game and hope they enjoy their rugby league experience.
Islington Chamber of Commerce
The Islington Chamber of Commerce is one London’s longest running independent Chambers. We are an award-winning chamber:
• Winner of “Outstanding Impact Award”, Global Entrepreneurship Week 2010
• Shortlisted for “Enterprising Culture” Award, Enterprising Britain Awards 2010
• Finalist for the “Best London Regeneration Project”, London Business Awards 2010
• Shortlisted for Sustainability Project of the year, BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2011
With over 80 years of history the ICoC strives to make business happen in Islington. We are passionate about business and passionate about our members. In 2011 we expanded our activities into Camden, developing The Camden Business Network and launching the Camden and Islington Business Awards. Though we are based in both boroughs we welcome members from across London particularly Hackney and neighbouring boroughs. We are proud of our work across both boroughs and hope that businesses from across the Capital will join us.
We organise networking events, facilitate business growth and development, encourage trade, encourage employment and lobby for businesses.
The chamber has been celebrating the successes of all its entrepreneurial members and business owners with pride for many years. Our commitment to promoting these achievements has led to a number of our members achieving positive press recognition in the local press as well as highly esteemed business awards. We use our social networking portals such as LinkedIn and Twitter along with our website to present the good news stories that inspire fellow business people to aim high and work hard.
We also use our internal print newsletter and e-newsletter to publicise the phenomenal work that the chamber’s members continue to accomplish.
ICoC events, seminars, workshops and meetings go beyond the social aspect of business networking but are a crucial platform for inspiration and motivation. We encourage relationship building, particularly in areas where role models are paramount in aiding business activity. This has motivated the chamber to commence the development of its own mentoring programme.
The ICoC’s CEO is proud to champion the efforts of the chamber in enhancing enterprising behaviour and recognising achievements. Having been profiled in the local press such as the Islington Tribune and the Islington gazette, a number of times, Ronke Lawal’s main focus for the chamber is celebrating the successes of chamber members. The Islington Chamber of Commerce is proud of the positive role models that make up its membership. We have ensured our executive board reflects this diversity with a balanced mix of business sectors who are ready and able to inspire fellow members. We do not reserve this treatment only to our members. We are keen to celebrate all business successes in Islington and across the capital.
