The inaugural Skolars Schools Summer 9s got off to a wet start yesterday as the year 7 competition got underway.  Woodside High and Aylward Academy played each other in the first round of the 8 week tournament.  The aim is to get more schools playing Rugby League in the Summer term to link closer with the Skolars juniors teams who play over the summers months.

The first game was a brilliant spectacle with the size and power of Woodside taking on the speed and quickness of Aylward.  The final score was 16 – 12 in favour of Woodside, with the Aylward team looking to avenge this defeat in round 2.
