Mark My Words

25th August 2011

Skolars Director of Rugby, Mark Croston, looks ahead to the season finale and his own appearance for a Skolars team . . .

We are all looking forward to our season finale.  The event is an integral part to the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final weekend when the rugby league family descends on the capital to celebrate in style. We are in no doubt that Keighley are a formidable team and we will need to be at our best to ensure we take the 3 points and finish the season with six wins, a draw and four bonus points.

This represents a good season when set against most of our previous campaigns and credit must go to everyone involved. However,  despite this we all know we are capable of performing  more consistently and winning more regularly. The group of players that have come through to the  end of the season can compete with any squad in The Co-operative Championship 1, and we are all looking forward to doing so in 2012.

We say goodbye to Tony Williams on Friday.  Tony pulls on the Skolars jersey for the last time. His job in The City has finally drawn him away. Tony has been, and remains, a very popular and respected player and will be sorely missed. Lets all raise a glass in the bar post-match to Tony.

I have somehow been enticed  into taking the field for the Skolars Legends in the certain raiser against The Political Animals. This match is part of the Masters Festival taking place on Friday, before the main event. Its always fun, especially seeing everyone attempt to squeeze into their kit! Good luck to both teams.
