Mark My Words

6th July 2011

Skolars Director of Rugby, Mark Croston, takes a look back at Skolars win over South Wales and looks forward to the  double header at the Stoop this coming Saturday.

Although the Doncaster result was a disappointment everyone was determined to get back to winning ways and take valuable points from one of our rivals for a play off place.

It was great to see Ollie Bloom return and have such an impact on the game, outstanding in defence and attack. After a two week absence through injury Jermaine Coleman demonstrated once again what we have been missing and his try saving tackle capped another strong performance.

In only his second start for the club we are already seeing Mourad Krouache forming an exciting partnership with Dylan Skee that will get stronger as we move through the latter stages of the season. It’s great to see Mourad settle in so well and adapt to the English style of play.

This week sees us return to the Stoop for the annual double header. Oldham are two places above us and have registered some impressive wins of late. It’s a fantastic event for London Rugby League and the atmosphere is sure to add to the occasion, with both teams desperate for vital Championship points.

Prior to the game Skolars U14s take on Wigan St Judes U14s, who play in the top tier of the North West league. This match is being played at nearby Staines Rugby Club. We extend a warm welcome to our friends from Wigan and thanks to Paul, Graeme and Neil in our Community Team who have worked so hard in making this a reality. Saturday also marks Rob Purdham’s 10 years in London Rugby League. Our very own Gareth Honor will achieve the same feat next year – a remarkable achievement for any player and the first Skolar to achieve this.
