Skolars Away This Weekend

2nd June 2011

Skolars make the long journey to Cumbria on Saturday, in preparation for their Co-operative Championship 1 fixture at Whitehaven on Sunday.

The Cumbrians started the season with a nine point deduction, following the club going into administration, but they have won eight out of their eleven league fixtures to date, including an impressive victory at Keighley last weekend. They now sit fourth in the league on nineteen points.

Skolars will be looking to capitalise on last week’s impressive victory over Rochdale.

Whitehaven coach David Seeds will rest Spencer Miller in an attempt to help the second row forward recover from an ongoing shoulder complaint. Carl Sice will also be monitored before any final decision is made on his inclusion after he suffered a dead leg against Keighley.
Seeds said: “London have picked up some good signings – blokes like Lamont Bryan – and that’s given them a real boost.
“They’ll come up here with all guns blazing after last week’s result, and we know that if you don’t turn up against teams that don’t have any pressure on them, then you can end up getting burned.”

Skolars’ Dylan Skee, who racked up 24 points in Skolars’ 44-22 win over Rochdale, said: “We went behind against Rochdale and in previous weeks we’d have stayed behind, but we stuck together well.”

The former ‘Whitehaven half back added: “Although it’s great to get our first win, our squad has the potential to be doing better.
“The main thing for us this week is to put in another good 80 minute performance. If we do that, we could come away with a win.”

Skolars Ade Adebisi will also be making the trip to his former club and will be looking to add to his impressive tally of 13 tries this season.
