Skolars Refocus For League Campaign

13th May 2011

Skolars feel that a week off and then a tough Challenge Challenge Cup game against Widnes Vikings has enabled them to refocus. Despite the loss for several months of Neil Thorman with a ruptured bicep, the return of Michaal Sykes and John Paxton from Leeds Met University and the return to fitness of Saqib Murtza has given them a boost just in time for the crucial May fixtures.

With Assistant Coach Jermaine Coleman making a welcome return to the playing roster following long term injury, the club has reshuffled the coaching team with Director of Rugby Mark Croston adopting a more hands on approach.

Croston is looking to convert the recent improvements in form into wins and get the Skolars into the play-off places. “The return of Paxton, Sykes and Saqib Murtza has given us some real impetus – we still have several players to return from injury so we are actively looking to strengthen the squad with one or two additions. The squad are fully focused on the month ahead and with two consecutive Co-operative Championship 1 games in London, we are looking give our fans plenty to cheer about”.

Skolars take on Workington Town at New River this Sunday with a 2pm kick-off and Rochdale Hornets on the 29th May with a 3pm kick-off.
