After going to behind to a Jason Payne converted try on 12 minutes Skolars ran in five tries to take a 26-6 lead into the break. However, Gateshead hit back strongly in the second half, scoring 26 unanswered poiints to lead 26-32 with only nine minutes left. A 76th minute Gareth Honor try, converted by Jack Latus, saved the day for Skolars who had to content themselves with a 32-32 draw and two points.
